NEW DREAMLAND: A panel discussion Mark Southcombe (VUW) and Ian Shearer, chaired by Christine McCarthy (President, Architectural Centre)

The dream of a pavlova paradise – owning your own home on a quarter-acre section – no longer exists. The size of the section has halved, the size of the house has doubled, the price has increased exponentially and the family unit has exploded – all of which is making home ownership a nightmare for many New Zealanders. This lunch time talk led by architects and academics will explore local and international alternatives to the detached dwelling on a quarter-acre section that may also offer more affordable ways of living.

Thursday 22 September, 12.30pm-1.30pm

City Gallery Wellington, Civic Square, Free entry
