Governance?

The Architectural Centre is exploring creation of a statutory function within Aotearoa ~ New Zealand governance that will advocate for good design. Society is facing pressing issues that demand we reinvent our shared built environment. From changing population demographics, a need to retreat from flood zones, to desires to enhance community connection and food security, all while simultaneously reducing dependence on fossil fuels. The level of transformation required is easily comparable to that of post-WWII – a time when Aotearoa ~ New Zealand was serviced by a dynamic and innovative office of Government Architects. Many of these architects were seminal in forming the Architectural Centre in 1946.
